RELEASE: MQ-1 Predators Arrive in Europe

STUTTGART, Germany — Two MQ-1 Predator remotely piloted aircraft (RPAs) and approximately 70 Airmen from the 147th Reconnaissance Wing of the Texas Air National Guard based at Ellington Field, Houston, Texas, deployed to Lielvarde Air Base, Latvia over the weekend. This temporary deployment of aircraft and personnel, which continues through mid-September, will test the unit’s ability to forward deploy RPAs and conduct air operations in an effort to help assure our Latvian allies, NATO allies and European partners of our commitment to regional security and stability.

RELEASE: F-22s Arrive in Europe

STUTTGART, Germany — The U.S. Air Force deployed four F-22 Raptors, one C-17 Globemaster III, approximately 60 Airmen and associated equipment to Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany today. The deployment will continue through mid-September 2015. This inaugural F-22 training deployment to Europe is funded by the European Reassurance Initiative. The F-22s are deployed from
the 95th Fighter Squadron at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida. While these aircraft and Airmen are in Europe, they will conduct air training with other Europe-based aircraft. The F-22s will also forward deploy from Germany to maximize training opportunities while demonstrating our commitment to NATO allies and the security of Europe.

STATEMENT: General Breedlove Praises Courage of Americans in French Train Incident

STUTTGART, Germany – General Philip M. Breedlove, Commander, U.S. European Command, added his voice to others who are calling three Americans heroes for their actions Friday night on a train between Amsterdam and Paris.

“These men are heroes. Actions like this clearly illustrate the courage and commitment our young men and women have all the time, whether they are on duty or on leave,” said General Breedlove. “We are extremely proud of their efforts and now are praying for our injured airman to have a speedy recovery.”
