STUTTGART, Germany — In a demonstration of our continued commitment to the fight against ISIL in Iraq and Syria, United States European Command directed the U.S. Air Force to deploy six F-15Es to Incirlik Air Base, Turkey. The F-15Es from the 48th Fighter Wing based at Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England, arrived today at approximately 3:50 p.m. Eastern European Time (EET).
U.S. European Command has now restricted travel to Turkey for all Defense Department personnel: all military and civilian workers, and family members, including those with dual citizenship, are prohibited from traveling to Turkey.
Unofficial and official travel — including ship-to-shore travel from cruises in Turkey — require general officer approval.
Personnel in Turkey should avoid public protests, demonstrations, rallies or other large gatherings to the greatest extent possible. They should remain alert to suspicious behavior and be aware of their surroundings at all times.
