NCO Academy Instructor Has Medal of Honor Ties

Sgt. Andrew Mahoney, a U.S. Army Europe-based Soldier, was there that day three years ago when retired Capt. Florent Groberg took actions during a suicide bombing in Afghanistan. Groberg was awarded the Medal of Honor in Washington DC last week.

Mahoney was with Groberg on the same mission and was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds sustained, and a Silver Star for putting his life on the line that day for his comrades.

STATEMENT: General Breedlove Issues Statement Regarding Paris Attacks

Gen. Philip Breedlove, Commander, U.S. European Command, issued the following statement on the Nov. 13 Paris attacks:

“My deepest sympathies go out to the people of Paris and France, and all those impacted by these horrific terror attacks. I have contacted the French Chief of Defense and offered to assist in any way our military can. We will continue to stand beside our oldest NATO Ally to deter, disrupt and defeat terrorists who threaten our values, freedoms and our way of life.”
